Accessibility
The Museum für Franken is not completely barrier-free. It is located in a historic fortress complex. The outdoor area and the museum courtyard are laid out with uneven cobblestones. There are steep climbs on the way.

There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities about 60 meters (approximately 200 feet) from the museum entrance.
The reduced admission price applies for people with disabilities. Please have your proof of disability ready.
A wheelchair can be borrowed from the museum ticket office.
Baby carriages can be parked in the entrance area.
Assistance dog teams are very welcome in the museum.
The toilets are located on the 1st floor. Two large staircases (35 steps) must be climbed to get there. An alternative facility, including a disabled toilet, is located in the second courtyard, about 150 m (490 feet) from the museum entrance.
The two exhibition rooms Schönbornhalle and Kelterhallte are accessible at ground level. There is a floor guideline here that leads to four tactile stations. The stations are marked. Two staircases (15 steps) have to be climbed to the fourth station. The beginning and end of the stairs are tactilely and visually marked.
The exhibition romm Romanischer Raum (Romanesque room) with its knights' armors on display and the archaeology section can be reached from the Schönbornhalle. Two staircases (15 steps) must be climbed to access these.
For the museum rooms on the 1st floor, stairs must be climbed. There is no elevator. The stairs are old stone stairs, which are of different types and partly worn. The beginning and end of the stairs are visually marked.
- 1 large staircase (20 steps) to the church hall
- 2 large staircases (45 steps) to the 1st floor (exhibition rooms include Steinsaal, Gemäldegalerie, Tilman Riemenschneider, Bozzetti-Sammlung, Barocksaal, Fayence-Saal, Gartensaal)
- then 1 staircase (20 steps) down: Rittersaal (knight's hall) and Echterbastei.
- From here, return the same way. The alternative is to take the spiral staircase.
There is a media guide with sign language videos and an audio guide in easy language.
An audio guide and an induction coil can be borrowed from the museum ticket office. The induction coil transmits the sound from the audio device directly to your hearing aid.
For booked group tours, there is the option of using a group tour system with audio transmission via headphones (23x) or induction coil (10x).
