Our museum is open!
Marienberg Fortress is being renovated, but the Museum für Franken is still open for you. Only the Fürstenbaumuseum and the folklore department have been permanently closed since 2021.

Line 9 (April to October)
From April to October, take bus line 9 from "Residenz" or "Juliuspromenade" to Marienberg Fortress, bus stop "Schönborntor".
Line 18
Line 18 runs all year round from the main railway station (bus station) to the "Oberer Burgweg" stop. From there it is approx. 10 minutes on foot to Marienberg Fortress.
The Tellsteige leads from the Old Main Bridge up to Marienberg Fortress in approx. 20 minutes. The steps can be bypassed via the Schlossgasse, but the entire route has a considerable incline.
Paid parking spaces are available for cars and coaches at the entrance to Marienberg Fortress.
The disabled parking spaces are located inside the fortress, directly opposite the Museum für Franken.

The audio guide is available in German, English and Easy German, with sign language videos and a special version for children (German language). The audio guide is free of charge, but a deposit of 10 euros is required. Visitors with hearing aids can borrow an induction coil free of charge.
Photography for private purposes without flash or tripod is permitted in the museum.
Your luggage can be stored in lockers or with our ticket office staff for the duration of your visit.
There is a changing table in the women's restroom. This may of course also be used by men with children.
There are currently no catering facilities at Marienberg Fortress. Hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice cream are available from vending machines in the second courtyard.
