Geht Grad° like so?
Climate in Lower Franconia

March 26 to November 15, 2026

From March 26 to November 15, 2026, the Museum für Franken is showing the new traveling exhibition of the district of Lower Franconia with the ambiguous title "Geht Grad° so? Climate in Lower Franconia". It poses the question: Can we gain new perspectives for our approach to the current global warming from mankind's relationship to the climate in the past?

The exhibition makes this complex topic tangible with objects and information from experts as well as numerous experiments, hands-on stations and interactive elements. It makes you think - and wants to encourage you!

Visitors learn how man's relationship with his environment has changed from the last ice age to the first agriculture and how he has increasingly influenced the climate, especially since the age of industrialization. As you walk through the exhibition, you come across objects from prehistoric times and the present day. They invite you to discover connections between life today and prehistory.

Climate crises were often the driving force behind new innovations and developments. What methods have humans developed to observe and understand the climate, to cope with climate change and to react to it? And what can we learn from this for the future? Interactive and informative, the exhibition "Is Grad° like this? Climate in Lower Franconia" offers space to discover, experiment and exchange ideas.

An extensive accompanying program of guided tours, lectures and events make the exhibition at the Museum für Franken a multifaceted experience.

"Geht Grad° like so? Climate in Lower Franconia" is a traveling exhibition of the Lower Franconian Cultural Foundation of the District of Lower Franconia in cooperation with the Museum für Franken - State Museum of Art and Cultural History in Würzburg.

Time travel climate
in the Museum for Franconia

What do Adam and Eve, the lying stones and a barrel rider on a wine barrel have in common? They tell us something about the relationship between man and his environment. And about how climatic changes and human influence have shaped our landscape, our history and our art and culture throughout the centuries. Eight interactive stations in the permanent exhibition of the Museum für Franken invite you to take a varied tour through the eras.

To look further

In a project for the traveling exhibition, students from the W-seminar "We Do! - Climate protection and sustainability at Friedrich-List-Gymnasium Gemünden" (school year 2025/2026) created videos to dispel climate myths. They were accompanied by Thomas Ludewig and Sandro Schiepan from the Cultural Work and Local Heritage Department of the district of Lower Franconia, media educator Christoph Kirchner and teacher Dr. Eleonore Hose.

The videos can be viewed at the media station in the exhibition. They can also be found in the YouTube playlist for the exhibition of the District of Lower Franconia.

What are climate myths? Pupils from Friedrich-List-Gymnasium Gemünden get to the bottom of the matter.

Cooperation with the Mainfranken Theater

Das Klima (no pressure)
Play by Fayer Koch
from April 9, 2026 at the Mainfranken Theater

It feels good to be part of the solution. Or does it, Jeff? Instead of being part of the problem.

In the near future, northern Germany has sunk, the Baltic Sea reaches as far as Würzburg. There, the world's last iceberg is staged as a spectacular greenwashing event: Grandstands, souvenirs, logos, a huge curtain. Everyone is waiting for the big speech - but behind the scenes, the iceberg is melting inexorably.

Offer

Museum für Franken: With a ticket for "Das Klima (no pressure)" you save the tour fee for all guided tours through the special exhibition.

Mainfranken Theater: With an admission ticket for the Museum für Franken, you receive a 10% discount on the regular ticket price for The Climate (no pressure) at the theater box office. The premiere is excluded.
