The Museum of Franconia goes on tour...
and collects miracles in Wunsiedel!

From June 10 to July 19, 2026, the art project "Wunder für Franken" will make a stop in Wunsiedel.

The Museum für Franken and Berlin artist Marc Haselbach invite you to bring personal mementos, curious objects or special stories to the Wunderkammer at Ludwigstraße 33. Because "Wunder", "wonders" or "miracles", here do not mean supernatural phenomena or objects with magical powers, but things from everyday life with special significance. The story behind the object is more important than the object itself.

Citizens can contribute their "wonders" from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 6 pm. These will become part of the growing Wunderkammer, which will be officially presented on July 19, the "Day of Wonders".

The "wonders" and their stories will be collected digitally by the Museum für Franken, with the originals returning to the people who created them. "Anyone can take part, regardless of age, profession, gender, skin color, origin, school leaving certificate, talent, wealth or a valid driver's license... only the desire for miracles should be present," says Marc Haselbach. The multi-award-winning artist is the contact person on site. Veronika Genslein, Deputy Director of the Museum für Franken, emphasizes: "The 'Wunder für Franken' project focuses on the active participation and involvement of people. We are interested in personal experiences, stories and memories."

The Wunderkammer is touring Lower, Middle and Upper Franconia during the renovation of Marienberg Fortress. Every summer, it stops off at a different location in search of everyday wonders that reflect Franconian identity and contemporary history. At the same time, it is a welcome opportunity to bring the Museum für Franken to the attention of a wide audience.

The project is entering its fifth round with "Wunder für Franken - in Wunsiedel". So far, Marc Haselbach has made stops in Ochsenfurt, Kronach, Weißenburg and Hammelburg.

The only question left is: "Do you have one of the Wunsiedel miracles at home?"
