International Museum Day on May 17
At the Museum für Franken, everything revolves around the exhibition "Geht Grad° so? Climate in Lower Franconia".
On May 17, museums around the world are drawing attention to their role in society. This is International Museum Day. Museums preserve cultural heritage and aim to promote understanding, tolerance and diversity. With their innovative educational programs and diverse collections, they are unique places of learning that provide a space for social discourse and open up perspectives for the future.
Museums all over Germany are inviting visitors to their museums under the motto "Discover Museums". At the Museum für Franken, the special exhibition "Geht Grad° so? Climate in Lower Franconia" sets the thematic focus. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on this day, there will be creative and experimental workshops and craft stations related to the exhibition. Participants can make their own thermometer under supervision. Making a hygrometer, i.e. a moisture meter, is also part of the program, which is aimed at the whole family.
Themed guided tours bring young and old closer to the exhibition, which poses the question of what new perspectives we can gain from mankind's relationship to the climate in the past for our approach to current global warming. The exhibition uses objects and information from experts as well as numerous experiments, hands-on stations and interactive elements to make this complex topic tangible.
The activities on Museum Day are free of charge. Registration is not necessary.
