young & wild
Your youth in Franconia
From March 2026, a new collection project will be launched at the Museum für Franken in Marienberg Fortress under the name "jung & wild - Deine Jugend in Franken".
We want to know what it was like! The Museum für Franken is collecting reports from contemporary witnesses who can tell us what life was and is like in Franconia, especially in the countryside. These stories will be transferred to a newly created digital oral history archive. There they can be accessed and heard by everyone. A pop-up exhibition is also planned for the end of the project.
The first phase of the project (2026-2028) focuses on the topic of "young & wild - your youth in Franconia". Franconians who spent their youth here between the 1950s and 2020s are invited to tell their stories: What characterizes youth in Franconia? What issues did young people deal with in the past and what issues do they deal with today? Where did and do they meet? What was special, what was difficult and what was beautiful?
The project starts in Mönchsondheim in the district of Kitzingen in Lower Franconia. In cooperation with the Kirchenburg Museum, two "regulars' tables" will be held at the museum education center there, inviting people to talk about youth in rural Franconia. The museum will then continue its tour through Central and Upper Franconia.
Under the leadership of Fabian Stöckl, curator and collection manager of the 19th century to present department, the museum is moving out of the fortress and immersing itself directly in the lives of Franconians.
We cordially invite you to follow the project with interest and listen to the results. If you have your own stories to tell on the subject of youth in Franconia, please contact the project manager Fabian Stöckl (contact details can be found on our team page).
