An exhibition about arriving and leaving

At all times, people have left their homeland for different reasons: in search of work, freedom or security, out of economic hardship, out of love or curiosity, in the service of faith, trade or science.

As an important trading, university, cultural, industrial and border region, Lower Franconia has experienced a high degree of migration in the past - and a particularly significant increase in cultural influences and inspiring exchange.

The exhibition of the district of Lower Franconia, which will be presented for the first time at the Museum für Franken from December 2019 and will then go on tour, shows exemplary stories from different eras and makes it clear that mobility and migration have been formative elements of our society for centuries. The aim is for visitors to understand connections, discover traces and break down prejudices. Seven themed areas with texts, images and objects, as well as multimedia and interactive stations, invite visitors to do just that.
