ENGEL?!
December 4, 2021 - June 27, 2022
People dream of very different angels: strong and lovely, tender and powerful, terrifying and melting away.
They are painted in oil, cast in plastic, carved in wood and lovingly decorated. Gudrun Wirth's private collection on display also demonstrates this diversity.
Angels have been with us since childhood. They protect people and deliver messages, they decorate poetry albums and children's books, they float on the Christmas tree and populate heavenly songs.
The radiant figures can be found in literature and poetry as well as in jewelry and decorations today and in the past. Last but not least, when looking at Raphael's little angel puttoes, the question arises: where is the line between art and kitsch?
The wide (wing) range of how we imagine the mediators between heaven and earth fascinates young and old alike. Creative activities and an "angel discovery tour" through the entire museum rounded off the exhibition.
