More than small adults
Exhibition intervention October 16, 2023 to January 28, 2024
The exhibition by students from the University of Würzburg presents a selection of paintings and sculptures from different styles and eras in a new light.
Visitors are given an insight into the world of children through the eyes of art.
A selection of artworks from the permanent exhibition is revisited in a narrative way in six color-coded thematic areas. Each work is marked with a stele and explained with a short text. A small reader, which tells more about the children's pictures, accompanies the exhibition and uses symbols to help assign the artworks to the themes.
Seven students of art history have worked intensively on the characteristics of children, which have been worked out by the artists in the selected objects, and have described in a lively way how children are depicted "more than small adults". They are shown as they really are: inventive and a little cheeky, but also lovable!
Professor Dr. Erich Schneider was in charge of the conception and realization in cooperation with the Museum für Franken.
A catalog has been published for the exhibition "KinderBilder Mehr als kleine Erwachsene".
