A successful model for scientific excellence and popular communication

A successful model for scientific excellence and popular communication: following the great response to previous events, there will also be a "Long Night of Science" at the Museum für Franken in 2026. On January 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., everything will revolve around the topic "The Late Bronze Age - a golden age!".

Three keynote speeches by renowned experts will provide fascinating insights into the world of the Late Bronze Age using important objects from the collection of the Museum für Franken - the depot finds from Bullenheimer Berg and the Acholshausen cauldron wagon. The speakers will be:

  • Prof. Dr. Frank Falkenstein (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg)
"Centers of power: The Bullenheimer Berg and the hilltop settlements of the Late Bronze Age in Franconia"
  • Prof. Dr. Carola Metzner-Nebelsick (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich)
"The Acholshäuser Kesselwagen and the religious beliefs of the Late Bronze Age"
  • Dr. Thomas Terberger (Georg August University Göttingen / LfD Lower Saxony)
"The Bronze Age battlefield in the Tollensetal valley - fighters from the south?"

In a subsequent discussion round, there will be the opportunity to place the results of the evening in a wider context and to ask questions. During the breaks between the presentations, there will be an opportunity to chat over snacks and drinks. Various institutions and associations will be on site with information stands, including the Society for Archaeology in Bavaria, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the Archaeological Spessart Project, ADW - Archaeological Services Wolff and the Friends of Franconian Art and History.

The Long Night of Science is aimed at experts, students and anyone interested in culture and history. By presenting current research, the event creates a lively dialog between science and the public.
